Dr. Marty Tanner graduated from Mississippi State University in 1986. Dr. Tanner is a specialist in Equine Sports Medicine and is well-known as a veterinarian to many of the top PRCA and WPRA competitors. He travels throughout the US and Canada assisting is clientele. He also travels to Las Vegas each year to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo to assist his clients during the 10 day event. In 2012, Dr. Tanner was selected as one of five finalist honored as PRCA Veterinarian on the Year. Although involved in all aspects of equine medicine, Dr. Tanner specializes in lameness treatment and surgery, with an emphasis on the rodeo and barrel racing performance horse. He is also one of the main surgeons involved in colic surgery for Elgin Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Tanner has been active in many organizations through the years, which include: AAEP, AVMA, TEVA (founding member), TVMA, AQHA, TQHA, LQHA, PRCA, National Greyhound Association (where he served as President from 2008-1010), Texas Greyhound Association, and Star of Texas Livestock Show and Rodeo (rodeo committee). Dr. Tanner actively supports 4H and FFA in his community. He enjoys spending time with his family and working on his farm, where they raise show goats, lambs and steers.
