Ricci Karkula, DVM, MS, cVMA is from Sanger, California. She moved to Texas after completing high school to attend college on a rodeo scholarship. Ricci received both a Bachelor and Master’s degree at Tarleton State University before attending veterinary school at Texas A&M University. While in veterinary school, Ricci served as the national Student American Veterinary Medical Association president, and continues to play an active role in organized veterinary medicine. After graduation, Ricci completed an equine rotating internship followed by a sports medicine/surgical fellowship, where she gained additional training in equine surgery. She is also certified in veterinary medical acupuncture from Colorado State University. Ricci’s professional interests include sports medicine and surgery, reproduction, and emergency anesthesia, but she really enjoys all aspects of equine medicine! Outside of work, Ricci enjoys barrel racing and spending time with her friends and family.
