Dr. Emily M Barnard grew up primarily in West Texas, and graduated from New Mexico State University in 2013 with her Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She then attended Colorado State University for veterinary school as a large animal tracker with a primary interest in Equine Surgery. Throughout veterinary school she was an active member and officer in their Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, serving as Treasurer and President. After graduation from CSU in 2017, she joined Elgin Veterinary Hospital as an intern. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
Her professional interests include lameness, surgery, and emergency medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Clint, their dogs (a corgi mix, Trigg, and English Pointer, Bridgette), and working their horses and cattle at their families ranches in New Mexico.
